Our
Vineyard Manager
Mr. Roger

In 1840, driven by a dream and deep passion for grape growing, Mr. Roger’s ancestors crossed the seas from Germany and settled in South Australia’s fertile wine country. From that moment, the family took root in the Barossa Valley, beginning a proud and enduring legacy in viticulture.
As the fifth-generation custodian of this heritage, Roger began learning grape-growing techniques from his father at the age of fifteen and officially took over the family business at eighteen, inheriting the 50-acre vineyard passed down through generations. With a lifelong dedication to viticulture, Roger has continually studied and refined vineyard practices, combining traditional hands-on methods with advanced techniques to improve both grape quality and yield.
Roger’s expertise earned the trust of the renowned Peter Lehmann family—one of the Barossa Valley’s most prestigious wine estates. For over 20 years, he served as their vineyard manager, an achievement widely regarded as a mark of distinction within the local viticultural community.
Today, Roger continues in his role as Vineyard Manager at Ka’ao Estate, where he is committed to nurturing exceptional grapes with uncompromising standards, laying the foundation for wines of outstanding quality.
